Linux Indore 2008 – Are you ready for the change ??

Back to blogging from a long gap….hope that the readers love this one !
Open Source !! Open Source is yet to spread its wings in INDIA. Although the year 2008 is said to be the Open Source year, still open source culture is finding it difficult to reach the common masses. The only reason being they are UNAWARE ! Several Linux User Groups have been formed but still only a few seem to be aware of this very fact. They are still inside the cocoon where they find proprietary software as the only solution to their computing needs. C’mon guys, Give me a break !!
Linux Users Group worldwide are continuously trying to spread the “Open Source” word. In line with the same thought Linux Users Goup Indore, INDIA is coming up with a day long event on 30th of September at DAVV Auditorium, Indore. There will be sessions on various alternatives to Proprietary Software, some workshops, programming logic sessions and a few Quizzes ( Yes, there is no entry fees… Relax ! )
All those who wish to contribute to the same, can do so at htttp://linuxindore.com. Get yourself registered and throw in your ideas, suggestions etc.
Hope the event brings a fractional change towards spreading Open Source.

Big round of applause, for taking painstaking effort to spread open source. Some suggestions i can recollect for same are jotted down ,as of now :-
1. Focus this time on some open source products of google called as open social.
It included developing addons ,gadgets for orkut(application ex typeracer etc),google
chrome and google earth + google3d warehouse. Amnities it may provide to janta(Get famous +
They will learn contribution ).
2. Promote open office and other sun product like netbeans + eclipse.
3. Mysql and DB2 are best n secure database, encourage for that.
4. Prospective amenities for using open source. (how to get good job if expert in opensource).
5. Get some Tshirts or sticker for any open source products.
6. Try filehippo.com , you can take example of any open source freely distributed software there.
7. Talk about participating in coding contest (Topcode, Acm UVA, Codejam etc) or becoming member
of ACM,IEEE.
Here in USA, I believe indian’s are not at all aware of this behemoth group(ACM,IEEE). Must
start using that. Indian lacks far behind in programing stuff.
Rest for linux part, i believe that it includes lot of matters.
Only thing to note here, i mentioned orkut, google and sun products as because, I believe that
in India, janta is interested to learn more about famous product like google , orkut and
NetBeans. Rather than going for big techy terms like Sql Injection tools bla bla.
Make it funny and interesting in parallel Depends on your adroitness.
